With Consumer Directed Services those who are Medicaid eligible and capable of self-directing can become a consumer, where you are the employer and can make the decisions about your care. You direct your own care and can choose a family member, loved one or someone you know to assist you with your care. In the CDS program caregivers provide assistance with daily living actives to help the consumer maintain their independence. The services provided are personal hygiene, food preparation, cleaning your home, shopping, non-medical transportation, laundry, assist with dressing, toileting, transfers and nursing services as needed.
